Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo moved past Spain legend Xavi Hernández into third place on the list of players with the most international wins. Following Portugal's 3-2 victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday, Ronaldo has now won 101 matches with his national side.
He is currently in the race for beating two different Spaniards—goalkeeping legend Iker Casillas in second, and veteran centre-back Sergio Ramos who is leading the way. Casillas is second on the list with 121 wins while Ramos is leading the path with 130 international wins and counting. Ramos, at present, has twenty-nine more wins than Ronaldo. However, Ronaldo will be looking to clinch the top spot before retiring. Be that as it may, it will end up being a test for Ronaldo, as Ramos intends to play in Euro 2021, which could keep on increasing the number of his victories.
Alongside being the Portuguese player with the most wins, Ronaldo is the most-capped player for his nation, with 170 appearances. Ronaldo is also Portugal's top goal-scorer with 102 goals and is the second-highest scorer in international football. He is just behind Iran legend, Ali Daei, who has 109 international goals to his name.
Ronaldo won Euro 2016 with Portugal. He also helped Portugal to a Nation's League win a year ago and was the top-scorer in the tournament with three goals.
