Gujarat leads the way with 3 new developmental projects

Prime Minister Modi virtually inaugurated three developmental projects on farmers welfare, health care and tourism development in Gujarat on Saturday from New Delhi on 24th oct 2020.

The first project, 'Kisan Suryodaya Yojana' enables farmers to avail power supply in the daytime for 16 hours from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. , unlike earlier. He believes that this plan could be a game changer for the farmers of Gujarat. According to The Hindu PM Modi while expressing his concerns towards water conservation. said, now that farmers will have access to electricity during the day they should emphasize on saving water and adopt the mantra "per drop, more crop". A budget of 3500 Cr was allocated by the state government for installing transmission infrastructure under the scheme by 2023.

Kheda, Valsad, Tapi, Chhota, Udepur, Patan, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Gir-Somnath are the districts included under the Scheme for 2020-21, according to tfipost. The remaining districts are to be covered by 2022-23 in a phase-wise manner.

The Second Project he inaugurated was a paediatric heart hospital attached to the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad, according to The Hindu. In addition to being one of the few hospitals in the world with world class medical facilities and infrastructure, the U.N Mehta Institute claims to be India's biggest hospital for cardiology. The Hindustantimes quoted PM Modi saying “Nowadays children are also affected by heart disease. This hospital will cater to not only Gujarat but also to the rest of India”. While highlighting the importance of this project. This expansion cost the institute 470 crores. No research centre also strives to house India's first advanced cardiac ICU on wheels inclusive an operation theatre equipped with ventilators, haemodialysis, etc.

Lastly, PM Modi felicitated the inauguration of a state-of-the-art ropeway at Mount Girnar near Junagadh, a major pilgrimage city. According to The Hindu total sum of 130 Cr was invested in the 2.3 km long ropeway which was developed by Usha Breco Limited. It enables this distance to be covered within 7.5 mins while providing a scenic view of the lush green mountains below, to its passengers. it is being touted as the longest temple ropeway in Asia. The Hindustantimes quoted PM Modi saying “The project will create employment opportunities for youth. Once we provide ease-of-living and ease-of-travelling to tourists, we will be able to convert several circuits in Gujarat to global tourist spots".

According to NDTV, PM Modi addressed the opposition over the delay in the completion of the ropeway project by saying "Had they not created hurdles in Girnar ropeway, it would not have stalled for so many years. People and tourists should have got the benefit a long back".

"As a country, we should think of the loss to the people of the nation when such projects (Girnar ropeway) of public importance are stalled for a long time" he added.
