The seventh address to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged citizens not to drop their safety precautions in the fight against Covid-19. The festive season is arriving soon, and the markets are open without any restrictions. However, people should be aware that the virus still exists in the country.

The Prime Minister cautioned the citizens that India’s coronavirus handling is better than other countries. Still, people must not think that normalcy has returned in any case. “We have tackled Covid to a large extent. The Recovery rate in India is one of the highest in the world, the fatality rate is low. Out of every million, we have around 83 deaths. This, compared to other nations, which see around 600 deaths per million, is much better,” he added.
At one point, the prime minister pleaded the citizens with folded hands to sanitise their hands, wear masks, and maintain social distancing. PM Modi stressed upon one of his earlier slogans stating, “Jab tak davai nahi, tab tak dhillai nahi,” meaning to maintain precautionary measures until there is a vaccine for covid-19.
PM Modi urged the different media platforms to create public awareness among India's citizens about the importance of being safe in this pandemic. The last address on June 30 by the Prime Minister stated the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna, an initiative to provide free ration for over eighty crore people till November end. PM Modi compared India’s situation with other countries such as the U.S, Spain, Brazil, and Britain, highlighting the ‘success’ in saving lives.
The Prime Minister further added, “there are nearly 25000 COVID-19 cases for one million population in countries such as the U.S. and Brazil, India has only 5500. Similarly, the number of fatalities in India is 83 per million population against more than 600 deaths per million in nations like the U.S., Brazil, Spain and Britain.” PM Modi emphasised that India has more than 90 lakh beds for Covid-19 patients, 2000 labs for testing, 12000 quarantine centres, and the total number of tests will cross ten crores.
