Yuyu Pharma receives commendations for maintaining a Gender Equal work environment

The leading Pharmaceutical Corporation of South Korea, Yuyu Pharma, received commendations from the president for maintaining gender equality among its employees, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The head of the production at Yuyu pharma, Eugene Baik received commendation for the same from the President of South Korea. Baik was awarded on 31 August, 2020 at the Gender Equality Award Ceremony. The event was organised at the Seong Convention Center. The CEO of Yuyu Pharma, Robert Wonsang Yu, was also present.

Baik joined Yuyu Pharma in 1983. He has been working at Yuyu’s production team for over 37 years now. He is well known for encouraging female employment and maintaining gender equality among the workers of the company. Baik also makes a point to ensure a family friendly work environment that maintains a work life balance. Yuyu pharma has also succeeded in maintain a work environment free of sexual harassment.

According to the reports released by Yuyu Pharma, the Jecheon production of the company comprises more than 30 per cent of the female working force. In addition, 40 per cent of its recent hires are women. Between the year 2017 to 2019, the percentage of female employees working at manager-level has also increased. Plus, the production team also caters to the needs of its pregnant employees and adheres to the maternity protection system that has been guaranteed by the Labour Standards Act. It also takes care of the pre-childbirth and post-childbirth maternity leave, treatment leave for infertility, and leave for family care. Also, the employees in Yuyu who take leave on such accounts, return to the same position and do not face any demotion.

According to an article by PR Newswire, The CEO of Yuyu Pharma, Robert Yu, said in the press meet after the award function that Eugene and everyone else who worked before them, laid the foundation for gender equality at the workplace.
